Hey there lovely Seacoast residents and workers.

Looks like we'll have a little rainy fall day here.

It seems like soup season has started, which is one of our bakery's favorites. We have Tomato, eggplant, and brown rice, Scarlet Carrot, and Split pea with ham.

There will also be two great specials today. We're doing the Southwest Chicken Tacos or a Spinach Ricotta Pie.

Sunday Brunch for September the 28th

Hello everybody.

Today we have the sausage, onion, and pepper strata

Challah French toast with sauteed apples and cinnamon yogurt

and a red onion, spinach, and goat cheese frittata with a romaine salad.

Soup is Gypsy Stew, Mulligatawny, and Corn Chowder.

Pizza will be eggplant, onions, red sauce, and feta cheese.

We will also have a roasted potato and bacon special sammy or pesto, tomato, and fresh mozzarella on the awesome country white.

Speaking of bread, we made a naturally leavened version of anadama. This is one of my favorite breads, and if you like the regular version, you might find the flavor of this one even better.

Our employee Maggie Wallace got hitched yesterday to he longtime sweetheart Mark. She's one of my personal favorites, and real joy, and a special person. Those these are normal things you would say about someone who just got married, Maggie really does make everyday more enjoyable and interesting. She's a real first tier friend, my hypothetical radio co-host, and in charge of the moral support department. We all wish her and Mark the best, forever. They deserve it.

I just heard the mother of the reporter James Foley, the kidnapped journalist who appears to have been murdered by Islamic extremists, saying she is just grateful for the joy that he brought her and that he died (we assume) bringing truth to the world. I thought that was a very dignified thought in what must be, as a parent myself, an unbelievable situation. The mother and the son are two different kinds of heroes.

Wow, it's August already!

So we're doing brunch again and we're offering the Sweet Potato Latkes with stewed apples and chili lime dressing. Add bacon if you want. There was also French toast and Strata, but due to the lateness (ahem...) of this post they are gone now.

There is pizza, too. It will be a green pizza, with pesto, asparagus, and broccoli.

The soups are a Sweet Potato Coconut, Ratatouille, and chilled Gazpacho.

Life is good here. The internet presence will be better next weekend for those of you reading this. Too many things for our collective hands to do, I guess. Take care.

Sunday the 27th of July

Hello everyone.

So we're continuing with the Sunday Brunch. It seems to be going pretty well. Today we are going be making a French Toast with sauteed peaches and blueberries, a Strata that has onions, peppers, and sausage, and also our debut star, Sweet Potato Latkes, which will be served with stewed apples. You pick whether to top them with a chili lime sour cream or a honey cinnamon yogurt.

There will also be Clam Chowder, Spicy Carrot Peanut, and chilled Gazpacho. Pizza, flats, and sandwiches will all be coming along, too.

Today is apparently Parents' Day. As a parent, I'm not quite sure what this day means. Maybe, because it's plural, both parents are supposed to flee on a wild trip to Las Vegas or sky dive and go rent a sports car and drive too fast on the interstate, all while the kids, or kid, clean the house and do the laundry and plan the meals for a week. Oh, and mow the lawn, too. Or maybe not. I don't know. We might just have too many holidays, even for parents.

Saturday the 26th

Hello everyone.

We are offering a Polenta and Veggie Casserole today. We thought about calling it Polenta Surprise, but decided against it. If we did, I would say that the surprise is in reference to how good food can be (Why I never thought...) Anyway. Should be great.

We also will have some soup and those will be Eggplant Tomato and Brown Rice, Spicy Carrot Peanut, and the ubiquitous chilled Gazpacho. I just read, well not just, but I read that Gazpacho dates all the way back to the Roman times and was food for laborers and farmers that they could drink while they worked. After the fall of those guys, the concept found a home in southern Spain and and has evolved in many ways there for the last two-thousand years.

Pizza is also ancient, but has really been refined with modern tastes. It's the Japanese Knotweed of food, really. But, really, people love it because it's awesome. We put Spinach, Red Peppers, Feta, and Red Sauce on it today.

Special Sammies are a Jicama and Carrot salad wrap and a BLAST (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Avocado, Sprouts, and Tomatoes). All of our sandwiches should have such great acronyms.

Hello everyone! Seems like it might be a little steamy today. So before you head to the beach, don't forget to snag some sandwiches.

Or some salad. We are making both a Curried Chicken and Rice Salad with Almonds and Apples and the locally famous Caesar Salad that can be had with Chicken and always has Potatoes (unless you don't want them).

Soups face an uphill struggle in this climate, it's true. We are making an Eggplant Tomato and Brown Rice, Red Lentil, and a chilled Gazpacho.

We will have a Hawaiian pizza, which means Ham, Pineapple, and onion with red sauce. I remember that pizza as the last to get eaten at the pizza party, but I grew up in Wyoming and we distrust things from hot tropical paradises. I now know it has many fans.

We're doing a spinach salad wrap with pecans, dried-cranberries, avocado, and caramelized onions or a chicken and fresh mozzarella.

Good morning everyone!

We are trying something different today, doing more of a straight-up brunch.

We are offering a Huevos Rancheros that is eggs, cheese, and refried black beans wrapped in a tortilla with sour cream and spicy salsa on the side.

There is also a Strata, which is an Italian savory bread pudding. It is layers of baguette and ham, peppers, and onions and Parmesan cheese, then soaked over-night in eggs and cream until we baked it off this morning. A serious breakfast.

And we also have a thick-cut baked French toast made with our cinnamon swirl bread and then topped with caramelized peaches and walnuts and also a dab of vanilla yogurt.

There will also be soup. We have Lentil Spinach and Clam Chowder, as well as a chilled Gazpacho.

We will have a Greek salad wrap, too.

And Pizza of a surprise nature.
